Hermes was born from his mother Maia and his father Zeus, the king of all gods. Since he was a little boy he was a prankster. He tricked his brother and stole his sacred cattle.  He was very helpful to the humans. Hermes was like an ancient therapist. He guided  Heros to victory. His staff is now the symbol of health and healing.
Hermes was the messenger for all the gods.  Sending messages from the gods to humans. He used his golden shoes to jump from Mount Olympus to the "real world" or to the Underworld.

There are many poems made about hermes, modern or ancient. For example a more modern one:

With wing’ed sandals and staff in handI fly and deliver across the landWit sharp as knives, voice soft as fleeceMessenger, of the gods of Greece.
The patron saint of liars and thieves, Still an ever constant force of good.I guide and assist he who believesAs, I would think, any deity should.

Spearheader of invention, athletics, oration,Brings me to note ‘Boxing’ was first my creation. As such I watch over all matches and fighters,While still patron of poetry, poets, and writers.

“Giant-killer Mercury,” they ask, “O who will prevail?”

I am he who is Hermes, and this is my tale.

There are also ancient poems. He is included in one famous poem, the Odyssey, by Homer.

The music associated with Hermes is Lyre which he supposedly created on his first day of life.
